In March of this year, SRS hosted the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge Regional Finals.
'Jack Petchey's Speak Out Challenge! is the largest speaking competition for young people in the world. It provides essential tools for young people to communicate effectively and with purpose.
Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge, delivered in partnership with Speakers Trust, was established because Sir Jack never felt confident when public speaking, yet wanted all young people to learn the value of expressing themselves to others – a skill vital to so many aspects of life.
Since 2006, the programme has trained over 280,000 young people in public speaking!'

After getting through the early rounds, we had 3 Year 10 students representing SRS in the finals; David, Zelina and Daisie. The evening was MC'd by last year's winner, our very own Asia F.
We are incredibly proud of our students for participating, and we hope that they are an inspiration to other students - to write and to speak about what they are passionate about.
'As the regional finals come to an end, the Speak Out challenge continues to inspire many young voices and encourage pupils to speak out and show why they are the best. This year was incredible, with speeches surpassing last year high standards. This competition gives people the chance to share their stories and make an impact.'
