Good afternoon and welcome back for the summer term! Our Right Start programme this week enabled all students to reconnect with friends, settle back into school routines and reflect on goals for the term ahead.

Yesterday, along with Ms Curran, Head of Year 10, I had the pleasure of interviewing eleven Year 10 students who were shortlisted for one of four places on the Eton Connect Summer programme.

Each year, the prestigious private school, Eton, invites students from The Sydney Russell School to participate in their exceptional summer programme, through which students meet many young people from other selected schools across the country and, through teamwork activities and workshops, develop leadership and problem solving skills which will stand them in good stead for whatever their next steps in eduction and employment may be.

The eleven students we interviewed were outstanding; it was an achievement in itself to be shortlisted for this stage and each should be very proud of themselves. It was an incredibly hard decisions to select just four students (two boys and two girls) from this exceptional group of young people and my congratulations to those who have been offered this very special opportunity - we hope you have a wonderful experience.

Next week we celebrate St George's Day on Thursday 23rd April and we look forward to welcoming families and friends to our Quiz Night! My thanks to our PTA for their support in bringing ideas together for this and supporting the event.

Finally, congratulations to all the children who have secured their place in EYFS (Reception) at The Sydney Russell School for September! We are delighted that you will be joining our school community and we look forward to meeting you over the coming term.

Wishing you all a good weekend.

Mrs Cross
