On Wednesday and Thursday evening, many students and teachers were transported back to the 1940s by the Performing Arts Department. The hall had been magically transformed into a night club, complete with tea lights and cocktail waitresses. Introduced by Master of Ceremonies Elvis Ezebuenyi, the cast sang and danced through a variety of numbers: some jazzy, some romantic and some funny.
Elvis was certainly successful in his attempt to “Make ‘em laugh.” Zainaib Bashua gave a very sultry rendition of “It don’t mean a thing if it A’int Got That Swing” and Malachi Jameson was a revelation with a touching version of Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. Olamide Sodeinde and Daniel Falayi are challengers to displace Frank and Sammy as the coolest performers of Me and My Shadow.
At one point, members of the audience were dragged onto the dance floor. Who knew that Mr Violette was such a mover?
An outstanding performance by everyone, it was a show with something for everyone to enjoy. Of course, though there were only two performances, they were the result of months of work from all the staff involved.
Congratulations to Leanne Peck, the Director; Katy Ambrose the Musical Director; Kerry Powell, the choreographer; Mike Sands, Arranger and Sound Technician; Claire Harrison Sound Technician and Luke Hastilow Lighting Technician.
